Maserati electrified all its models from 2019
All the new models of Maserati adopt some sort of and electric propulsion beginning in 2019. This has been expressed by the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Sergio Marchionne, in a conference call with its shareholders. Is more, it has been argued that half of the models of all brands of the group will be hybrid or electric in 2022. In addition to Maserati the group’s brands are: Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler and Dodge.
Marchionne added that Maserati will happen almost 100% of its budget to R+D for transmissions and engines to the development of electric mobility. Although before that, they will have to “complete the development of its two upcoming models”. According to their plans, the first Maserati “electrified” will arrive at dealers in 2020 and will be based on the concept Alfieri, which you can see in the pictures.
The first steps of the Maserati to the electricity
After the good results of the group Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) in the first half of 2017, Maserati electrified all its models by 2019. The car that is more likely to be the first of the mark in use this energy is the Lift. Thanks to the greater space that offers your body type SUV, it is easy to adapt it to offer a hybrid version plug-in. In the words of Giulio Pastore, head of Maserati Europe: “The platform of the Lift allows you to add a hybrid system. We are working on its development so that in 2019 we can provide a hybridization”.
Marchionne also explained that the group FCA has been slow to invest in the transformation of their cars to use electricity, because there was still some uncertainty about his future at the international level: “We have been reluctant to embrace that path until we have seen more clear that it was going to continue forward.” Sergio Marchionne will be CEO of the group, because in 2019 will retire by retirement, so that will not be in charge of its transition towards electric cars.
