8 re-interpretations of modern classics with which BMW managed to fall in love with

the surprise of The weekend has been, without doubt, the imposing BMW 2002 Hommage. In BMW remain true to their tradition, to create re-interpretations of modern of their best cars, the classic most wanted. The last of them all has been the stunning BMW 2002 turbo, one of the fetishes of anyone who feels, or has felt attachment ever by this brand. But what is certain is that the BMW 2002 Hommage is not the first, and something tells us that won’t be the last, to retrieve the spirit of a classic to show us how it would be today.

BMW has reinterpreted some of their best cars, with prototypes for modern and spectacular, which each year is presented in the famous Concorso d’eleganza Villa d’este, and in the edition of 2016 served to gather all of them.

The series Hommage was born in 2008. Since then, BMW has opted for create prototypes so evocative as that we show in this article, re-interpretations of gems like the BMW M1, the BMW 3.0 CSL, the BMW 328 or, more recently, the BMW 2002 turbo. All of them have gathered these days at the famous Concorso d’eleganza Villa d’este, one of the contests of elegance more famous, like every year for these dates, held at the Lago di como.

in Addition to the Tribute to the Concept of four-wheel drive, BMW has also put together other prototypes that celebrate your brilliant legacy on two wheels, as the BMW Concept Ninety and BMW Motorrad R 5 Hommage. Neither has missed the reinterpretation of the classic MINI that was designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the victory of the Mini in the Monte Carlo Rally, and another gem that, before the birth of the Hommage Concept, as homenajeaba the classic BMW 328 Mille Miglia Touring Coupe 1940.

BMW M1 Hommage (2008)

Spectacular. What would look like a BMW M1 in the XXI century? In BMW were very clear. It would be angular, aggressive, would have a central motor, a lot of technology and a spectacular design. The result is what we saw in 2008, with the presentation of the BMW M1 Hommage Concept coinciding with the 30 anniversary of the birth of the BMW M1. It is as important to BMW the emblem M1 that during all these years they have resisted that another one of their models sported that name, including the BMW i8, and the latest version sports the BMW 1-Series Coupé, which finally would be known as the BMW Series 1M Coupe.

BMW 328 Hommage (2011)

The BMW 328 is, by far, one of the BMW models most desired by lovers of the classics. In 2011, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the BMW 328 racing, was presented the BMW 328 Hommage, a roadster of high-flying in which the aluminum from the classic to the that homenajeaba was replaced by the carbon fiber.

BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage (2015)

BMW 2002 Tribute (2016)

In the year of its centenary, and just when the BMW M2 arrives in the showrooms, BMW has wished to pay homage to its predecessor, the BMW 2002 turbo, which celebrates its fiftieth anniversary (of the Neue Klasse) these days.

BMW Concept Coupé Mille Miglia (2006)

But the most amazing project, no doubt, is the one that took place in 2006 to reinterpret the famous BMW 328 Mille Miglia Touring Coupe 1940. With modern technology, and modern design, BMW has created a prototype that would preserve the spirit and the physiognomy of the beast of racing in the forties.

MINI ACV30 (1997)

is Not exactly a BMW, but it does have a lot of importance to the German mark. When the acquisition of MINI had already been closed, BMW took up the work of the Rover to create a modern successor to the classic utilitarian british. Before such an event were to occur, and was born the MINI that we all know today, BMW commissioned its designer Adrian van Hooydonk to create a prototype very special. And so was born this MINI ACV30, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the victory of the Mini in the Monte Carlo Rally, and with mid-engine and rear-wheel drive. It would not have been too bad a MINI with this architecture, don’t you think?

BMW Concept Ninety (2013) and BMW Motorrad R5 Hommage (2016)

In 2013, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the section of bikes from BMW and the forty-year anniversary of the BMW R 90 S, was presented the BMW Concept Ninety, a modern motorcycle, retro style, spectacular. A prototype of some form would have an influence on the BMW R nineT and BMW R nineT Scrambler that would know later.
